Have you ever wanted to hide your specific posts from your homepage of your WordPress site? You can either password protect your posts to hide your posts from clients. But think that, you wanted to simply hide your posts from homepage. In this case we’ll show you how to hide posts from specific places like, homepage, categories, search results etc.
In this tutorial, we need a simple plugin to be installed, in order to hide the posts. The plugin is WP Hide Post. First of all, install this plugin in you site. After the installation, you need to activate the plugin in order to How to Hide a Post From Home Page in WordPress.
Upon the plugin activation, you need to open the specific post that you need to hide from homepage or etc. from the WordPress editor. Just go to posts> and select your specific post and click on edit or you can create a new post and setup the settings to hide the posts.
When you open a specific post in the WordPress Editor, you will see a new meta box called “Post Visibility”. Under that meta box, there are different options, containing related to the Post visibility.
You can use the Checkboxes that are in the meta box to edit the Post’s visibility. You can hide the post from the front Page, category Pages, Tag Pages, Author Pages, Date archives, search results, and even in the feed.
You can tick multiple locations, if you want to hide the post from multiple locations. After Setting up the Post visibility, you can visit the front-end of your site and check that the specific post has been hidden from the locations that you have selected.
But the Special thing is that, if the user has the URL of the Post, the user can still view the post.
If you want to view a hidden post in your WordPress site, Simply go to Posts> All Posts and hover over to the post that you want to view. Under the title of the post, you will see a link to view the post called, “View”.
This plugin also works well with the Pages in the WordPress. Just like in posts, when you edit a certain page, you will find a meta box names, “Page Visibility”. In that meta box You will find three options, which are,
- Show Normally everywhere
- Hide when listing Pages on the Front Page.
- Hide everywhere Pages are listed.
